MacBook Air M3 (2024) – known issues and repair
Last updated:
Quick answer
The MacBook Air M3 (2024) is a conservative update: same M2 chassis, new M3 chip, and finally dual external display support. Few new fault patterns. We handle every repair.
About the MacBook Air M3
Launched in March 2024. Identical chassis to the M2. Same strengths and weaknesses, just with a new chip and dual-display support.
Specifications:
- Chip: Apple M3 (8-core CPU, 8- or 10-core GPU, hardware ray tracing)
- RAM: 8/16/24 GB
- SSD: 256 GB – 2 TB
- Sizes: 13” and 15”
- Dual external display: yes (clamshell mode)
Known issues
Largely identical to the M2 — see our MacBook Air M2 page. If you’re choosing between a used M2 and a used M3, pick the M3 if the price is the same — hardware ray tracing and dual display are nice-to-have.
Repair
We handle repairs on the MacBook Air M3 — same parts and pricing as the M2 in many cases.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the M2 and M3 Air?
Same chassis, new chip. The M3 is ~15–20% faster on CPU and GPU, has hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and supports two external displays (but only with the MacBook's lid closed). For most users the difference is marginal.
What does a battery replacement cost on the Air M3?
DKK 1,700–1,900 on the 13'' and DKK 1,800–2,000 on the 15'', including labour and 2 years' warranty — same battery enclosure as the M2. See current pricing at macmo.dk/reparation.
